This book recounts the heart warming true story of a loving, eleven-year old boy who lived his short life to the fullest before he tragically succumbed to asthma. Written by his father, Paras Bengco and colorfully illustrated by Penny Booher-Jones, it provides special insight and comfort to parents, family and friends of children who have been taken all to soon, or may currently be suffering with this condition.
I have written this children’s book as a tribute to my son, with the hope of educating others, especially parents & family about asthma and to remain positive, no matter what life throws your way!

This story also presents a message of how to remain positive while living with asthma. In the story, Miles is confronted with numerous challenges that many kids may perceive as negative and disappointing. “My son always maintained a positive outlook in life. His favorite expression was, “This is the best day ever!” Because of that comment, I titled the book, Miracle Miles and His Buddy Bunch, The Best Day Ever!”
A portion of the proceeds from the book sales will be donated to asthma and allergy foundations, St. Jude, as well as to Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital in Long Beach, CA. Long Beach Memorial was where Miles was born, where he was rushed to urgent care when he had several asthma attacks and where he peacefully passed away surrounded by family and friends.
Miles truly was a miracle and kept a positive attitude in everything he did. When you read the book you’ll discover he was funny, witty, endearing, a social butterfly, confident, a risk taker, adventurous, had a kindred spirit, affectionate, intelligent, loved to laugh, and loved his friends and family. You’ll be able to relate on a very personal level because, more than likely, you have someone in your life who is very much like Miles.
